About Animal Orthocare LLC
In the field of veterinary medicine, orthotics, prosthetics and other assistive devices are an emerging technology that can aid in the well-being of your pet. The goal of Animal Orthocare, LLC is to provide the highest quality Orthotics and Prosthetics to assist your pet in regaining his/her quality of life. These devices are used to either correct or accommodate the affected limb(s) of your pet that have been disabled through trauma, illness or old age. They are most often used to stabilize a neurologically deficient limb, provide support for a weak tarsus or carpus, protect the limb from self-mutilation, or for prevention of contractures. They are a great alternative to amputation and will help in keeping your pet healthy and happy.

Derrick Campana, |
Derrick Campana Derrick Campana, a board certified Orthotist, has practiced in the field of Orthotics (the use of braces to correct or accommodate an affected extremity) and Prosthetics (the replacement of a lost limb) for several years. Originally, working with just the human population, he eventually found his true passion by utilizing his Prosthetic and Orthotic skills for the aid and rehabilitation of animals. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Derrick Campana received a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (the biomechanical study of the body in motion), and went on to receive his certification in Orthotics at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently finishing his Prosthetics certification through University of Connecticut’s Prosthetic program. His animal patient population originated with a black labrador with a congenital deformity, named Charles. Multiple cases later, his most current challenge involves Maxi, a mixed-breed suffering from multiple joint contractures on all four limbs, and an above elbow amputee named Mia who will be the ring bearer during a spring wedding. Currently, with his human population, he works at an Orthotic and Prosthetic company called Specialized Orthopaedic Services in Vienna, VA. At Animal Orthocare, Derrick Campana works directly with your pet's veterinarian to make sure he/she receives the best care possible. These devices are a great way to avoid surgery, assist in rehabilitation after an accident or surgery, and can even give your pet a longer life for non surgical candidates. Through the use of prosthetics, orthotics, and other assistive devices, your pet will be on it's way to leading a happier/healthier life. |
